I cross my fingers as
a ritualistic behavior
at any attempt to trigger
external betterment
but it never works.
My life was placed in the
palms of complication
and plunged (headfirst) in the salty pools of
poverty.
And though it never seems to trigger a difference,
I will forever cross my fingers
for they are the few things
in my control.
And maybe one day,
when I cross my fingers,
my life will be placed not in the palms of complication,
but in the core
of the sun.
