Distress erased, lips stretching wide in sync
Painted is a blinding smile that masks an unpleasant countenance,
An approachable visage.
Surely, the next second will settle itself.
When the ensuing dread begins to settle in
And it becomes obvious that the next second is uncertain,
The smile falters.
The stranger, displaced, once the moment elapses–
The painted joy, effaced by the last shutter.
