Hi! Welcome to the first edition of Paige’s Page. I am Paige Weisburg ‘23 and I’m here to listen to your questions about all things and give you advice. Now, you may be wondering, “Paige, what makes you qualified to give me advice?” That is a totally reasonable question, to which I would tell you— I am absolutely not qualified to give you any advice but I’m going to anyway. I have a lot of opinions that I want to share. I like to think that I’ve figured out this college thing and I love to help people in any way that I can.

Here is a little bit about me: I am from New Jersey just like (probably) you, I am a political science major and a women’s and gender studies minor, I am the president of Hillel, the risk manager for Delta Zeta sorority and a Student Government Association representative. I love TV shows, podcasts, music, cheese, coffee, knitting, makeup and fashion. I love inconveniencing my friends to stop and have conversations with everyone I know walking through Seegers. I love Shabbat dinners at Hillel, and I love analyzing my friend’s birth charts (I’m a Sagittarius sun, Leo rising and a Scorpio moon). I’m excited to share the fun little thoughts in my brain with you. On to my FIRST question!

“Hi Paige! I am super excited to be back on campus with things being (mostly) back to normal. I have been very nervous to be social again in the midst of COVID and I want to get back out there. I just don’t really know where to start. Help me!”

Hey, bestie! It is totally normal to be nervous about getting back out there in the middle of a pandemic. I was also super worried about this coming into the semester. Being social is scary and being around people you don’t know very well can also be intimidating. I have been coping with this by throwing myself into every activity that comes my way. I usually won’t say no if someone wants to grab a meal with me, hang out with me or introduce me to their friends. But I know that doesn’t work for everyone. When I came back in the spring, I found myself being hidden in my room after a year of craving social interaction. Everything was so exhausting and even being around my friends felt like a chore. But, now I will do anything I can to stay out of my room; I even love being in a classroom now. I also felt like I needed something fun and new to do which is why I’m writing this article you are reading right now. Maybe try something like that. Join a club that you wouldn’t normally join that sparks some of your interests. Go in with some of your friends and try to make some more! Say hi to that person that you have taken several classes for your major with that you have never spoken to. That’s how I’ve made some of my best friends. Ask your friends to go on walks around campus while it’s still warm out. Take it slow! This will take time! It is difficult and you are so brave for trying to push yourself out of your comfort zone.

If you found this at all helpful to you, YAY that was my goal. If you didn’t and have other questions you want to be answered, please submit them. If you hated this, and also me, please feel free to let me know, I love my fans!
